The 2022 Native Youth Olympics (NYO) games will be held in person from April 21-23.

This year’s games will be the first in-person edition of the games since 2019. Organizers are taking all appropriate precautions to create a safe, welcoming environment for athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans. Detailed information will be released in the coming weeks, as event planners work to demonstrate resilience alongside NYO’s student-athletes.

The 10 NYO events are designed to test skills and abilities originally used to maintain fitness for subsistence activities. Student athletes (grades 7-12), from all cultures, are encouraged to compete in the games and celebrate Alaska’s rich history and diversity. Medals will be awarded for first, second, third, fourth, and fifth-place finishers.
